What Happened to the Halo Movie?

CNBC's On The Money has the scoop.

So here's my question: If Microsoft believes in the movie THAT MUCH... why not just produce it themselves? The budget is $125M and it will make at least $300M... plus DVD sales. So screw Hollywouldn't and do it yourself. Indie studios do it all the time. Better yet, buy an indie studio, and then just find a distributor. Problem solved, right?

I think the Doom movie is a perfect example of what happened to the Halo movie. Video game movies have generally not done very well at the box office. In the current state of the industry, there is almost NO movie you can rely on for a 300 million gross short of a major blockbuster sequel like a Harry Potter film.
