Robert McLaws: Windows Edition

Blogging about Windows since before Vista became a bad word

This Would Have Been Fun Vista Marketing

Here's another reason I should work for Microsoft. I was watching a Best Buy/Vista commercial this evening, and I had a fun idea. I would have enjoyed watching the Teutuls build a Windows Vista-themed bike on American Chopper. Having one of those bikes done gets you 2 episodes (90 minutes of total airtime) on TLC. Since the Teutels have to get creative inspiration on what the bike is gonna look like, they could have taken a trip to Microsoft to meet with the UI team, and Microsoft could have given some Vista demos on camera. Microsoft could have gotten props by upgrading the OCC office to Vista, allowing the team to experience it first-hand while they design the bike. Then, they could have given away the bike at one of the launch events.

That would have been fun to watch...

I must agree with you. I love OCC and Vista Bike - all geeked out - would be a really cool thing! Also, it might help stop those stupid questions I get in return when I say - Oh this is Windows Vista on my computer... People are like "W00t?, Vista?"... At least through OCC they'd know what Vista is! :)

Microsoft really did a bad job in marketing this time around. 500 million dollars for what? Not even a superbowl commercial :(

    Cheers,

    Petar

Didn't they already use OCC for their case study for MS-SQL 2005?

Oops. Turns out it is Microsoft Dynamics GP, not MS-SQL 2005. Here's the video link: http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/gp/demos/OCC_GP_300k.wvx

I woudl agree, I would have LOVED to see an OCC bike.

What could have been cooler, would be if they put up an abbreviated version (or maybe both shows up), onto Xbox Live's Video marketplace.  It would advertise both OCC, the Video Marketplace on XBL, as well as Vista.
