Oh Yeah, Google's Sh!t Doesn't Stink

When asked about the Yahoo-Microsoft takeover today, Google's Sergey Brin had this to say:

The Internet has evolved from open standards, having a diversity of companies. ... And when you start to have companies that control the operating system, control the browsers, they really tie up the top Web sites, and can be used to manipulate stuff in various ways. I think that's unnerving.

Of course man... because indexing all of an individual's personal communications, medical records, and web browsing history, all to serve them the most relevant ads, isn't unnerving either. And like you don't currently "tie-up" the top sites already.

Pot to kettle: "You're black".

But Google cant do all that and control the OS and browsers, where MS can do it all. I think its a fair point he raises.

So basically, aaron, you're saying that because Microsoft got into the OS business, they should be stuck sitting there because they aren't supposed to get into anything else...wait...didn't google start out as a search engine and evolve into an information-hungry company that now gives you pretty much everything you need...I really don't mind google, but it's just that sometimes they need to just take their competition and stride and actually try and compete instead of complaining to their millions of hipster stick to what you're good at (search-engine), and Microsoft will stick to what it's good at (eating up companies so that it can benefit both itself and users by offering a better experience...).

Just read the headline, and it's obvious why Google wouldn't want Microsoft to have Yahoo!  It's quite apparent that Google has taken the mentality of "If I can't have it, no one can."  Whatever, Google...

  • I don't like Google.  I don't trust Google.  I don't use Google unless I perceive that I "really have to."  And honestly, I don't feel that way all that often anymore - Yahoo!, Microsoft, and have gotten that good.  But don't take my word for it; try it yourself and see.
