Alright, so I've been brainstorming a couple ways to increase revenue on my site. Short of selling my soul (which is TOTALLY for sale, BTW), I don't want anything I do to be a whole lot more intrusive than it already is. The other problems I've already run into are so-called "contentual marketing" that ends up displaying obviously fraudulent "download Windows Vista" sites when it's not yet available to purchase (earning me next to no revenue in the process). So I was thinking about the fact I've been talking about how great Vista is for so long, maybe I should start pointing people towards ways to purchase it.
So I started screwing around with Amazon.com Affiliates, and I came up with two potential solutions that I'd like feedback on. One is a "gadget" on the site's Sidebar that would rotate through various Vista editions and link to the proper page on Amazon.com (a static version is on the home page now), or our own Windows-Now.com aStore, where the entire Amazon experience is contained here on the site.
Before you flame me, think about it for a second. Would you buy Windows Vista and Office 2007 from Amazon? If so, would you do it through my site if it helped me pay the bills around here? Think about it, and please leave your constructive feedback.
